Free Training – Cognitive Behavioral Insomnia Therapy (CBT-I) for Adults
Description
Insomnia is one of the most common complaints of those with co-occuring mental disorders, and there is considerable misinformation about how to effectively treat insomnia. For example, sleep hygiene is one of the most common “treatments” used, but it is ineffective (e.g., Edinger et al., 2021). Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) is a highly effective solution that aligns well with cognitive behavioral techniques commonly used to treat conditions such as depression, chronic pain, and anxiety. This training will provide a user-friendly introduction to sleep regulation, empowering participants to troubleshoot sleep-related issues with confidence. The workshop will cover the application of CBT-I for insomnia and how CBT-I strategies address the three main maintaining factors for chronic insomnia. The workshop will focus on collaborating on personalized sleep-wake schedules, stimulus control, and cognitive therapy. Through didactic learning and hands-on case study exercises using sleep logs, participants will practice therapy skills to integrate into their clinical practice.
